The Braves won another Vigo County championship, finishing 2-0, and concluded the season with a 12-9 record. They’ll now get ready for their third game with Terre Haute North on Tuesday in the 4A Terre Haute South sectional.

North Central clinched at least a share of the Tri-River Conference girls high school basketball championship Monday night, rallying to defeat Linton 53-46 in the North Central gymnasium.

A team from the western half of Class 4A Sectional 13 will be playing for the girls basketball championship at Terre Haute South on Feb. 13.

All the Northview high school wrestling sectional champions sported smiles of all shapes and sizes, but the largest smile by far belonged to Terre Haute South sophomore Tsali Lough. Entering the day with a 16-12 record, Lough outlasted Zach Ferguson of Edgewood in a 5-1 decision to win the 145-pound championship — as a No. 5 seed, no less.

Ben Jones and Meyers Leonard were the one-two punch as usual for visiting Robinson on Saturday as the Maroons won an Apollo Conference game at Mt. Zion by a 75-62 score.

The only suspense appeared to involve whether John Michael Jarvis of visiting Terre Haute South would outscore the host Bears all by himself, a prospect still in the balance when he hit a pair of free throws for his 14th and 15th points that gave the Braves a 36-16 lead early in the fourth quarter.
